The Madras Electric Trades Association, popularly known as META was established in the year 1942. META is the founder member of Federation of All India Electric Trade Association [FAIETA] and also the founder member of Federation of Electrical, Electronics and Engineering Trade Association of Tamil Nadu [FEEETAT]. META is also a member in Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, Southern India Chamber of Commerce, Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Federation of Madras Merchants and Manufacturers Association.

META have contributed their might for Chief Minister Public Relief Fund, TamilNadu, Chief Minister Public Relief Fund, Rajasthan, Kargil War Victims Welfare fund, Gujarat Earth Quake Relief, Rehabilitation of School children by construction of School in the village at Kutch and many more.
